WorxInvest acquires minority stake in i3-Group

i3-Group is market leader in interactive digital screens and modern learning environments

Investment company WorxInvest has announced a minority interest to drive development of international growth strategies in the  Diest-based i3-Group. This financial injection will allow i3-Group to further accelerate the international growth of its digital division i3-Technologies, which includes interactive touch screens. The investment also supports a targeted M&A strategy and strengthens i3-Group's leading market position in the education and visual communication sectors via the Vanerum brand.
WorxInvest, a diversified investment company and parent of SD Worx, has announced its minority investment in i3-Group, a Belgian group providing products and solutions for both the education market and the corporate market. With the development of its own line of technology products under the i3 brand name, the Vanerum group reinvented itself from a traditional manufacturer of blackboards and school furniture into a leading European supplier of interactive environments that support collaboration and learning. Gert Van Erum, Executive President of the Group, became the only shareholder in 2017 and remains majority shareholder. To accelerate and support further international growth, Gert Van Erum, current shareholder of the i3-Group, reached an agreement to partner with WorxInvest.
Gert Van Erum, Executive President i3-Group: "Both the world of education and professional meeting environments are evolving rapidly. We have the products to support teachers and managers from around the world to embrace this behavioral shift, providing a working environment that connects digital solutions with live interaction. The partnership with WorxInvest supports the growth and development of the i3-Group. We are very pleased that we have been able to attract the right partner, so we can continue to upgrade the classrooms and meeting rooms of our customers and provide them the technology that they need."
Filip Dierckx, Executive Chairman WorxInvest: "Many organisations still need to make the shift from presentations and virtual meetings to true remote collaboration, with more interactivity and connectedness. Current examples of investments in digital classrooms in Germany and the USA also prove the growth potential in governments; i3-Group is a leading Belgian group with a strong position within its sector in Europe. The company has recently experienced exceptional growth with its digitally integrated solutions. We look forward to working with management and seeing great potential to further expand i3-Group's international market position. We are impressed by the group's growth to date and are pleased to support the i3 Group's strategy in these promising market segments."
Both parties mutually agreed not to disclose information about the acquisition price. Gert Van Erum remains the majority shareholder and Executive Chairman of the i3-Group. WorxInvest was advised by ACE Law (legally), EY (finance and tax) and SD Worx (Human Capital). i3-Group was advised by Stibbe (legally).
